local leadership roles

key leaders & their teams.

CityFest becomes a reality because of local leaders and volunteers who offer their unique gifts. In the Invitational and Foundational phases of the Festival, leaders are identified and teams begin to form.

From beginning to end, members of the Palau Team are by their side to lend their experience and support. You are not alone in this!

After the catalytic moment of the Festival has passed, leaders can define how they want to work together to reach their city for the long-term through an ongoing Gospel movement.

festival Co-Chair

The Festival Chair is like the CEO of the Festival, with a team around him/her to accomplish the task. The Festival Director from the Palau Team will give guidance to the Chair(s) throughout the entire process. Sometimes the Festival Chair is multiple people who divide the work per their respective abilities and networks.

pastoral C0mmittee

This leader is a liaison between the Executive Committee and the local pastors. This position seeks to involve as many area churches as possible in the Festival. A successful Pastoral Co-Chair can easily cross denominational lines, is well-respected in the ministerial community, and can effectively recruit other key pastors to participate.

prayer C0-Chair

This leader highly values the power of prayer and can effectively mobilize people. They organize one or two all-city prayer rallies, a 40-day prayer walk before the festival, and all on-site prayer activities. In addition, they regularly send festival prayer needs to city intercessors and provide on-site prayer at pre-festival events.

fundraising C0-Chair

This leader is responsible for building a team to assist in raising the needed funds for the CityServe/CityFest budget. This position is best filled by a Christian businessperson who is well respected—both in the church community and the community at large. They will work very closely with the Festival Director from the Palau Team.

counseling & follow-up

Coordinating with a team, this leader ensures successful attendance at the Friendship Evangelism and Counselor Training events. They implement the Luis Palau Association counseling and follow-up strategy to refer decision-makers to participating churches. This position is best filled by someone with pastoral experience and who demonstrates organizational skills.

Service C0-Chair

This leader coordinates with civic and faith-based ministries to engage the local church in serving the needs of the city. This person will need compassion, ministry experience, and the ability to network with the existing service ministries. This team is responsible for implementing the plan, gathering resources, and recruiting volunteers.

Affinity Events

Along with their team, these co-chairs develop an evangelistic luncheon for affinity groups like business leaders, civic professionals, women, and more during the week of the Festival. They will help arrange the facility and mobilize people to attend. This position is best filled by a layperson that can network with various business, civic, and women groups, and has experience in organizing banquet events.

action sports C0-Chair

At CityFest, we partner with action sports evangelists to share the Gospel powerfully! This leader works with their team to mobilize the extreme sports community, gather supplies for the skate park, as well as recruit volunteers for skate park construction during the festival week or before. This position is best filled by a person with connections to the extreme sports/skate community.

children’s C0-Chair

The Children's Co-Chair gives leadership to a team that is responsible for developing vibrant children’s activities for the Festival. This leader must be able to recruit a team, communicate with the churches, implement the program, and mobilize children to attend. This position is best filled by either a pastor or layperson that has considerable experience with children's ministries.

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”
